As we arrived at the Adelaide port, we were immediately impressed by the friendliness of the people. On the upper floor of the cruise terminal, on the left, there is a country/folk band playing music, and on the right are several local volunteer, “greeters” dressed in blue and ready to welcome us to their town.
We selected a ship’s excursion today. Our motor coach picked us up right at the port and whisked us to Mt. Lofty Summit for some nice views.
We saw our first wild koala hiding in a tree near the entrance to the summit welcome building.
Then we headed out of town and into the hills toward Hahndorf, a German settlement. Many people like to vacation here where the climate is cooler. We walked along the street and stopped at several locally owned galleries and shops.
Had to try some local Hahndorf fudge at Humbugs.
and a couple of bakery items at a German bakery.
Then back on the motor coach for a nap as we rode back to Adelaide and to our ship.
Next port: Melbourne, Australia
