The Russian Currency is the Ruble. The paper currency is in denominations of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000. There are 10, 5, 2, and 1 Ruble coins, and the 10 Ruble coin has pretty much replaced the 10 Ruble paper note in circulation. There are even smaller coins called Kopeks in 1,5,10 and 50, but they are just about worthless, and I never saw any of them. At the time we were there, we approximated that 1000 rubles equalled $15.50.

Tallin, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia was our first port stop on our Northern Europe / Baltic Cruise, and we docked at the Old City Harbor.

Stockholm, Sweden
We flew into the Stockholm Arlanda airport via Frankfurt, Germany, on Lufthansa airline and used Taxi Stockholm to transfer to the Sheraton. Everything I read ahead of time was very accurate. Multiple taxi companies line up at the airport taxi area. I read that there are some reputable companies and some that will rip people off. We asked the Taxi Stockholm driver if he had a “fixed” fare to the city center. He said, “Yes, 575 Krona.” He switched his meter to the fixed fare and off we went. Continue reading “Stockholm, Sweden”
