El Dorado Casitas Royale Day 6

Before we booked the swim-up Casita Suites, we studied the Karisma properties on line  and all the room types to choose the most peaceful location on the property. After arriving, they gave us this map.

The villas are much nearer the bulk of restaurant, bars, and entertainment venues. These areas promise to be a bit more lively at night. The Casitas are further away on the property, so they seemed to be the best choice for us. Also, the ocean view and the proximity to beach chairs was another plus. And we knew that shuttles could whisk us to the other end of the property.

We were in section 29. Each section of the Casitas has its own pool.

The swim-up casitas offer the chance to walk or float to the main pool and its swim-up bar right from the back patio. (Thankfully, we read to bring our own float).

On day 1 and 2 (Monday and Tuesday for us) the pool was fairly quiet.

The bartender (Juan) and beach butler (Israel) were extremely accommodating – even coming to our porch ad/or beach bed to offer to bring our cokes and virgin pina-coladas (he called them pin-nadas, as in nada – “no” alcohol.) By day 3, our pool became party central. At one time I counted 38 people. There was very little room to stand in the main pool.

I’m not sure where everybody came from, but they came in droves.  Juan and Luis kept their smiles and ran around like crazy people serving the multitude.  I know that two of the loudest couples were staying in the 29 Casitas as I saw them walk back and forth to their rooms on occasion.  I’m guessing they attracted all the visitors.

We walked down to Casita area 27 and found a quiet pool. I missed the convenience of walking back and forth easily to my room, but the quiet took precedence over the convenience.  The bar tender at 27 was friendly. He said that 29 was probably crowded because they offer a “full bar.”  His bar looked like the other pool bars to me, but what do I know considering my tea-totaling ways!

Lunch today was at JoJo’s

Bread with a pepper spread, Hubby had “Catch of the Day,” fried grouper.

I had spaghetti with creamy pesto sauce and parmesan.

And for dessert, The Cancun…

Three scoops of ice cream: chocolate, coconut and vanilla topped with a strawberry, kiwi, and raspberry.

Before dinner, we had appetizers courtesy of room service: cheese quesadillas, buffalo wings and a brownie.

For Dinner, we went to Cocotal.

We like to eat an early dinner, so we are almost always the first to arrive. For dinner Hubby had Rack of Lamb and I had Salmon.

For dessert, profiteroles and cinnamon apples with ice cream.

Yes.  This IS a gourmet resort.
