El Dorado Casitas Royale Day 7

Today is our last full day.

I walk a few steps to the Lomas Travel station to schedule our pick up time for transport to the airport and confirm checkout and baggage pickup time with Julieta, our personal concierge.  “It is Hubby’s birthday,” I remind Julieta, and she informs me that she already has something special planned for him.

Our friendly neighborhood iguana stops by again today for a brief visit.

We also see one of the property’s rescue cats on occasion.  The owner truly has a compassionate heart for rescued animals.

The cats even have their own café on the property. People are asked not to feed them as they are fed twice per day at the café.

For lunch, we went back to JoJo’s. Hubby enjoyed the fried grouper so much the other day that he had it again today.

I had the fish sticks (not Mrs Paul’s brand by a long shot.) I also asked if they could serve a few grilled shrimp with it, and they were happy to accommodate me.

The pool outside our room is calmer today, and we enjoy a little time to ourselves.

I enjoy relaxing on a float, and Hubby seems to enjoy “pushing me around,” literally. Then, I spend a little time reading and blogging while Hubby is tracking the Predators hockey game on NHL.com.

For birthday dinner, we head back to our favorite restaurant of the week, D’Itaia Villas. Hubby enjoyed the duck so much last time that he ordered it again.  I chose the eggplant cannoli.

According to Julieta, the “birthday surprise” is supposed to be in our casita after dinner. When we discussed his birthday this morning, I reminded her that we don’t drink alcohol.  She said, “I know,” and she puzzled, “What to do?”

This is what was waiting for him.  A beautiful cake for two (with silverware for one. Maybe I’m supposed to feed him?), some fancy jellies, and a bottle of sparkling wine.  Hubby popped the top of a Coca-cola from our fridge, poured it in the champagne class, and we got our last chuckle out of the people who just don’t quite understand us.
