Today our ship docked in Glasgow.
We chose a ship excursion to see the Edinburg Military Tattoo in the evening. This has nothing to do with, “I love Mom,” tattoos or anything. The tattoo is a spectacle of military precision drills with bands, bagpipes, drums and Scottish dancing. Other countries send participants as well.
Our ship actually docks in Edinburgh on this itinerary, but doesn’t stay in port late enough for the tattoo, so we took a 2.5 hour bus ride starting at 5:30 PM through the Scottish countryside to get there then walked 1 mile uphill on cobblestone streets to the venue. All for a 1.5 hour long show then the walk down the hill and 2 hours back (no rush hour traffic). Arrived back at the ship around 1:00 AM but tomorrow is a sea day so we get to sleep in.
