The Great Synagogue in Jerusalem is a modern place of worship today. 
Garden Tomb
The Garden Tomb is located outside the old city gates of Jerusalem. In fact, we could have easily walked to it as it is located between the Olive Tree Hotel and the gates to the city.
Israel Museum
The Israel museum houses a scale model of Jerusalem during the second temple period. This outdoor model gave me a greater understanding of the location of the temple during that time period and its scale as compared to the other city buildings. As we walked around this model, our guide pointed out the locations of the various city gates and landmarks.
