Cozumel is an island off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. With the recent scares and warnings about traveling to Mexico, I’ve had folks ask me about the safety of coming here. As of the date of this posting, there are no warnings from the US Dept. of State regarding Cozumel or the Yucatan peninsula. We have always felt safe here, but as always, no matter where you are, be aware of your surroundings. Stay in the common areas. Travel in pairs at the least and better yet, groups. Near the pier, we joined a group with Odyssey tours. (about $80 per person) We drove through an area where monkeys are known to frequent, but the monkeys did not get the memo.
Our group stopped at a roadside market for fresh fruit smoothies. Mine was pineapple-coconut. I also found my Costa Rica postcard here. There was no trouble spending US Dollars. Continue reading “Puntarenas, Costa Rica”
