Talkeetna, Alaska

Our Princess rail excursion ended just outside the small, relaxed town of Talkeetna: Population around 900. We strolled along the main street – Was there a second street? I don’t remember.  What I DO remember was the restaurant:

Denali Brewing Company at Twisted Creek

maybe because I was starving at this point,

but more probably because the food was delicious, the service great, and the atmosphere distinctly Alaskan.

We looked around at several of the shops-one of which was Nagley’s store.  An ATM is available here.

As we walked back to our shuttle pickup point, I noticed a little place called “Shirley’s Burgers.”  My kind of place. Too bad I was already full from lunch.  Maybe I’ll try it out if I ever get back to Talkeetna.img_1427

By the way, visitors can arrange all kinds of sight-seeing from Talkeetna: glacier flight-seeing, hiking, river rafting/boating, fly fishing.  It would be well worth spending some additional time here.
